Like many of my artworks, Vaquera (Spinx Month) in the Vaquera series was inspired by nature, The Sphinx Moth, or Hawk Moth, resembles a hummingbird in nature but is nocturnal. Therefore, she is often overlooked and is able to go about her tasks unhampered by the rest of the diurnal world. This mimicry inspired me to adorn the most recent Vaquera with these amazing moths. Emblazoned upon her shoulders, this delicate insignia reminds us that there are inspiring powers at play in the midnight.
Understanding Limited Series
Each work in Dolan Geiman’s portfolio is unique and hand-crafted. Some are one-of-a-kind pieces while others are reiterations of a recurring theme, denoted as Limited Series throughout the site.
Each piece in a Limited Series is created with a inimitable collection of found materials so that no two are exactly alike. Iterations will vary slightly in color, pattern, typography and frame; each is crafted in a limited quantity and without a predetermined edition numbering.
