Freight Shipping
Artwork with dimensions exceeding UPS Ground’s max size limitations are crated and shipped via freight carrier. This includes paper/metal collages 44.5” x 54” and larger, faux taxidermy mounts, as well as many of our sculptural works.
Freight Carriers
Who We Work With
We partner with a local, specialty packing and shipping company which specializes in the transport of high-value goods: All Points Pack & Ship. The artwork is packed in a hand-built wood crate, typically an A-frame, to prevent tipping in transit. View a crate example.
What You Can Expect
Upon departure from Denver, you will receive an email with the PRO (tracking) number and the freight carrier’s website to track the crate. If white glove service is selected, you will also receive the name of the white glove carrier that will receive the crate then deliver the artwork.
Delivery Options
We will quote two options for delivery:
Curbside
● Average Cost: $675-$900
The freight carrier calls to schedule a delivery window. Upon arrival, the crate is lowered to ground level in the street (no inside delivery). Delivery appointments at a set time (versus window of time) are available for an additional fee. Please keep in mind: these crates are about 200 lb. in weight and about 36"-48" wide with the A-frame construction. If a pallet jack is unavailable, most clients will open & remove the artwork from the crate while outside.
White Glove Service (Preferred)
● Average Cost: $875-$1025
The crate will be delivered by the freight carrier to another entity (like Navis) that offers white-glove service. The crate will typically be unpacked and artwork inspected at the white glove carrier’s receiving facility. On occasion, the white-glove carrier will leave the artwork crated until delivery at your home. Following receipt, the white glove carrier will call to schedule a delivery appointment. The artwork is then packaged in moving blanket (or comparable) for in-town transit via smaller truck. Upon arrival, the white glove carrier will bring the artwork inside and haul away all packing materials. Installation is not included.
Insurance
On average, insurance is $.04 per $1.00 of coverage (As an example, insurance would cost $400 to insure a work of art up to $10K). However, we carry a fine art policy which covers artwork in transit at its full retail value. We extend this coverage at no additional cost to our collectors. Purchasers do not pay an additional fee to insure the artwork in transit.
Inspection Upon Delivery
We have a great track record with shipping oversized artwork, but mistakes do happen in the world of freight despite our best efforts. Upon receipt, please thoroughly inspect the crate for any sign of damage. If there is any sign of damage, please make note on the delivery paperwork prior to signing and please take photos of the damage before the crate is opened. Then please notify us immediately.
Installation
White glove service does not include installation. We are happy to help research professional art installers in your delivery area. Please contact us for assistance.
Transport Alternative: iTransport4u
If receipt of the artwork is not time sensitive, we will quote transit via iTransport4u, a California-based fine art shuttle service offering door-to-door service via their fleet of delivery vans. The artwork is picked up and transported from our studio to your home by a dedicated driver experienced in fine art handling. On average, scheduling to delivery requires 4-6 weeks with a cost between $500-$700.
