Two weeks after he arrived at his new home, he was settled in, safe, secure. The journey had been long, the trail had been rough, but he had finally found a place that felt like home to him. Perched high on a flat outcropping where the dark timber shuffled down onto a sagebrush slope, he was nestled into a patch of old burned timber that felt like a softened fortress. Surrounded by plants and other growing things, he sat and waited for the mountains to greet the rising moon.
