The Story

So many of my muses are wild creates of the Southwest landscape. Each animal, bird, insect that I sketch is pulled from a trip I have taken somewhere in that dusty landscape; sitting, watching the sky, watching the grass, watching the sandy dry riverbed. When I go on these trips I navigate by sight and loose intuition-am capricious, and not nailed to a paper or digital map. I watch strange birds flying overhead and chase them in my truck to see where they will alight. I talk to folks at gas stations asking about deer, roadrunners, kangaroo rats…and often get strange glances but sometimes decent intel. I once followed a farmers white pickup to a giant hole in the ground where bats were bending their wings to plummet into the abyss. I’m driven by nature, and I love to explore. It’s a dangerous and wonderful combination in the Southwest.

Understanding Limited Series

Each work in Dolan Geiman’s portfolio is unique and hand-crafted. Some are one-of-a-kind pieces while others are reiterations of a recurring theme, denoted as Limited Series throughout the site.

Each piece in a Limited Series is created with a inimitable collection of found materials so that no two are exactly alike. Iterations will vary slightly in color, pattern, typography and frame; each is crafted in a limited quantity and without a predetermined edition numbering.
