A vintage baseball glove is laden with stories - memories of shared moments and connection, hard work and perseverance, laughter and triumph. These are wonderful objects to repurpose into works of art. This Open Range Longhorn's head is fashioned from repurposed leather baseball gloves and catchers' mitts form the head. I cut these apart and sew them back together to create the shape, then add a set of horns crafted from carved wood and wrapped in found twine, rope and fishing line. The backdrop is assembled from reclaimed metal, which I've sourced in my travels across America in the last several years. I hand-cut these pieces to form a unique mounting plate to display this handsome fellow, an homage to American ranching, agriculture and steadfastness.
