Dolan Geiman was selected as one of 10 artists representing Chicago in the nationwide Tequila Herradura Barrel Art Competition. For the event, Dolan crafted a free-standing, interactive sculpture from a tequila barrel as a “totem to a tequila that has a history; a tequila that wasn’t born in a board room.” The finished piece told the story of Casa Herradura with a metal burro and the blue spikes of the agave plant, both real and raw parts of the tequila-making process. The piece also included a takeaway: event attendees were encouraged to take a wooden screenprinted horseshoe, a nod to the company logo, to learn more about the Herradura brand. For his efforts, Dolan was awarded the Fan Choice award for the Chicago competition.
