Description

Large-scale vintage western figurative collage portrait, a cowboy with gold vest and cactus detail, red felt hat and patriotic bandanna. The companion to Sugar Skull Cowgirl.

  • Medium: vintage papers on wood
  • Size: 67" H x 55" W
  • Frame: hand-built, ornate salvaged metal frame with inset votives
  • Hardware: ready to hang with heavy-duty D-rings on back

The Process

The metal frames are all hand-constructed from salvaged ceiling tin. The pattern on this frame was constructed to suggest the texture of a cactus trunk and openings for votive candles on the sides. All metal was hand-cut with tin snips.

Understanding Limited Series

Each work in Dolan Geiman’s portfolio is unique and hand-crafted. Some are one-of-a-kind pieces while others are reiterations of a recurring theme, denoted as Limited Series throughout the site.

Each piece in a Limited Series is created with a inimitable collection of found materials so that no two are exactly alike. Iterations will vary slightly in color, pattern, typography and frame; each is crafted in a limited quantity and without a predetermined edition numbering.
