The Process

This sculpture is a compilation of metal materials reclaimed over the years – in various cities, rural towns and in transit to and from art fairs – as well as an exciting new element: Christensen Arms’ signature aerospace-grade carbon fiber. Geiman repurposed the same carbon fiber wrapped around Christensen Arms’ rifle barrels to craft the unique shape of the ram’s horns and construct the ram's body. For the horns, the carbon fiber was cut, heated and stretched around a wire frame, then treated, painted and decorated. The carbon fibers' strength, rigidity and incredible light weight offered a unique alternative to Geiman’s typical medium and creates a truly distinct piece, melding materials of the past and the future.
