Dolan Geiman for New Balance: a 19-foot-wide world map created from hand-cut New Balance footwear and apparel scraps, installed at the New Balance Boston headquarters in Fall 2015.

For this particular installation, Geiman was tasked with creating a world map using recycled New Balance footwear and apparel scraps. Taking the assignment quite literally, and being a Libra himself, Geiman decided to focus on the idea of balance and created thousands of circles, the most balanced shape, to convey the idea that as an international community we must give, as we take, in order to harmonize with nature and each other to reach a true balance. Small triangular shapes were added as well to represent the challenges that often arise but are overcome through intention and responsibility, qualities seen in New Balance’s pursuit of environmental, social, and community leadership.
