... and really, it was. In this 2D metal wall sculpture, a vintage-styled outdoorsman shows off his impressive catch, a detailed and dimensional rainbow trout. Created from an original hand-drawn sketch celebrating the ingenuity required to survive in the wild and the veritable thrill of a successful cast into the river, this sculpture is created from a plethora of found materials layered by hand to bring this character to life.
From his textural shirt “fabric” to his knife, suspenders, and bandana, the detail and precision of this fisherman rival the unique colors and shapes found throughout the trout’s scales: a coalescing of Dolan’s favorite techniques and tricks to encourage your next tall tale and the many conversations that follow.
