Story

I am fascinated by the creatures of the night. I love their mystery, how they find you in the darkness and flicker away before you can decide exactly with whom you have crossed paths. I love that they are drawn to the light and love that they are fearless in navigating the darkness.
Fearless, fearless, fearless: something to shine a light on, indeed. Ever-protective, ever-commanding, this newest Vaquera in the series, Night Wing, offers a watchful eye over your home or cabin at any hour, day or night.

Process

Process

This gal was created using vintage and found metal I gathered up from all over the West and Southwest. I typically scavenge through old abandoned barns and ranches, even old dumps in the desert that have been sun bleached and windblown. I bring these scavenged materials back to my studio and start hand-cutting the metal with tin snips and metal shears, affixing each individually cut piece onto a wooden background to create the finished sculpture. This series of Vaqueras are inspired by Mexican and Western folklore, each of the gals serving as an inspirational badass protector for your home or ranch.

Dolan Geiman Metal Wall Sculpture

Contemporary assemblage mixed media artist Dolan Geiman uses intricately cut salvaged metal to create a different type of found object artwork in upcycled materials. These original artworks hang as highly tactile metal wall sculptures, echoing some of Dolan's other artworks available in paper collage. Bold in color and rich in detail, discover some of the atypical materials given new life for these metal creations, like car doors, kitchen utensils, oil cans and antique farming equipment.
