A Lesson
As the colors of the passing year
present themselves
now in cloaks of grey,
of cinder,
of charcoal,
it would not be uncommon to see them
in their dying shells and parched husks,
as barren skeletons - lifeless sticks.
But stepping back,
we learn that it is they
who make the shades
of the new year
more vibrant.
