Quick Reference

  • Who is Dolan Geiman? Do you have a bio I can use?

Dolan Geiman is a Denver, Colorado based mixed media artist creating collages, paintings, metal sculptures, and other 3D assemblages. Produced from vintage papers, salvaged wood, scrap metal, and other found materials, Geiman's tactile artwork emerges from a folk art tradition infused with a contemporary western style.

Born in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Dolan Geiman has been enthralled with the flora and fauna and iconic imagery of America’s rich history since the days of youth & exploration. Working as a full-time artist since 2001, Geiman, along with his wife and partner Ali Marie, has achieved nationwide recognition through art fairs and commission work. Past clients and collections include Pendleton, New Balance, Dickies, and Anthropologie as well as over 100 hotel and public collections nationwide.

  • How do you pronounce Geiman?

    Guy-Men.

  • Where are you located?

    Denver (Englewood), Colorado.

  • Can I visit the studio?

Book a studio visit on Saturdays during the off-season (September through February).

  • What’s the latest?

    Join the newsletter: subscribe here.

  • What materials do you use?

More than anything else, I get questions about my tools, materials, and techniques. I can recommend Golden artist supplies. Beyond this, I believe it's important for each creator to discover their own techniques and preferred materials through personal exploration. After all, the artist's journey is where all those great stories come from ;)

  • What originals are available for immediate shipment?

  • Do you have additional works at the studio?

Always! The website is continuously updated with completed, available artworks, but we typically have 8-12 works in progress at any given moment. If interested in a specific work or series, please inquire and we're happy to share in-progress shots of any works that might match your interest.

  • Can I order a print? Are they giclée prints? What about framing?

Yes, giclée prints are available for online purchase here. The Epson ink we use is archival pigment and the paper is an acid-free matte paper. Framed prints are available; more details here

  • Do you sell the originals used for prints?

Yes! Typically, the first original collage of a particular image or subject will be scanned for prints and both the original and prints will be made available for sale.

  • I saw something on your social media but I don't see it on your website, how can I buy it?

Call/text us at 773.620.3776, contact us via email hello@dolangeiman.com. or send us a DM @dolangeiman and we'll be happy to help.

  • Are the collages produced in a specific edition?

We do not set a specific quantity or edition size for each of the collages. Each collage is part of a limited series and each produced with a unique set of papers and materials with inherent variation from collage to collage. This process is fairly organic whereby Dolan moves on to other themes and compositions with time and after he feels he has fully explored the image. This may also include different sizes of the image, such as the large Vigil (Violet) and small Vigil (Paprika). On occasion, Dolan does make collages that are 1 of 1, and these are priced accordingly: see available One-of-a-Kind originals.

  • Where do you get your metal frames?

The metal frames seen on the original paper collages are handmade. Due to the scarcity of the material, unfortunately we do not sell our frames separately for prints or other works. We'd be happy to suggest some frame options that should be available from your local framer. Please contact us for assistance.

  • What purchase options are available? Do you offer payment plans?

We accept Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Discover as well as PayPal and Google Pay. Read about Payment Plans and other purchase options.

  • Do you offer other print sizes?

We are happy to discuss custom sizes. Contact us via email hello@dolangeiman.com. Please note that the figurative prints are not available in sizes smaller than 16 x 20.

  • The print/print size I want states sold out. Will you have more?

Each print is signed and numbered in a limited edition: 200 of the small size (e.g. 16 x 20), 100 of the medium size (e.g. 24 x 30), and 200 of the large size (e.g. 32 x 40). Once we have produced and sold all prints in that edition, the edition is closed meaning we will no longer be producing the print/print size.

  • Do you have the Forget Me Not print in a smaller size?

With regrets, all of the smaller Forget Me Not print editions have already sold through. Each of our prints is produced in a signed, numbered limited edition. Once all prints in the edition sell, the edition is closed. At this time, we only have the larger print remaining as well as the canvas print. Print suggestions in similar theme are here.

  • Can I pick up orders from your studio?

Ready-to-ship originals, canvas prints, and unframed paper printsmay be picked up from our Denver (Englewood) studio Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Please proceed with your online order and you will see a pick up option under delivery method during checkout. Please understand our workspace is not available to tour when picking up an order. Also, local pick-up is not available for framed prints as these ship direct from our framer's out-of-state facility.

  • How long will my order take to ship? Do you accept returns?

See our shipping page + shop policies page.

  • The print I received has marks on the background. Is my print damaged?

Prints are reproductions of original paper-on-wood collages, crafted atop a base layer of vintage sheet music and paint. Varying levels of detail from these sheets can show through in the finished work, which translates to the print image as well. If you see marks, color splotches, spots or similar in the background of your print, you are likely seeing the vintage paper peeking through; fear not, your print is in good shape!

Click here for more on how collage backgrounds are created.

  • Where all can I see your work in person?

Check our art fair schedule for an event in your neck of the woods. We also work with a handful of stockists that carry our prints.

Our workspace is not available to tour, but appointments may be made to view specific original works via our showroom. See our shop the studio page to schedule.

  • Do you offer trade discounts to interior designers?

Yes, please complete the trade application.

  • Do you work with galleries? Do you wholesale?

We are not pursuing additional gallery representation at this time but do offer wholesale to brick & mortar home + gift retailers. See wholesale terms.

  • What’s the best way to discuss a custom/commissioned artwork?

Via the form on our commission overview page please send the following:

    - (1) The name and/or link to the past Dolan Geiman work most akin to your desired artwork.

    - (2) Your desired artwork size (roughly), orientation, and medium (collage, metal, or faux taxidermy).

    - (3) Your target receive-by date and budget range (if comfortable sharing).

  • What about using your artwork for personal use like a tattoo or wedding invite?

Artwork must be licensed for both commercial and personal use. Please contact us to discuss.

  • Do you have gift certificates?

Electronic gift card are sent to any email address and the recipient can redeem online in our shop.

  • Under the artwork details, many of the collages cite inclusion of Museum Plexi. What is this?

Museum Plexi is essentially a top-of-the-line acrylic glazing that offers UV-protection without reflection or glare. Framers will use either a Plexiglass-type product or glass. We use an acrylic product to help protect the artwork (UV filtering magic!); the acrylic is also better-suited for shipping, as it's less fragile and lighter than traditional glass. We use Optium Museum Acrylic by Tru Vue (details), which offers super crystal clear neutral viewing of the artwork, UV-filtering, and anti-static and abrasion-resistant properties.

  • Is your artwork hangable?

Yes, all collages arrive ready-to-hang with hardware on the back. Smaller collages include both strap hangers (see photo) and wire. Larger, heavier works will just have strap hangers on the back.

If hanging in drywall, we recommend use of two wall hangers like these.

  • How do I purchase the print hanger shown on the print listings?

The walnut print hangers are available for purchase via Well Made. Mention 'Dolan Geiman' at checkout.

  • Will you donate to my silent auction?

We support a handful of non-profit organizations each year with artwork donations to silent auctions. Our focus: organizations committed to conservation and environmental advocacy. However, to focus our charitable giving and deepen the impact, these artwork  donations are limited allowing for a more significant year-end gift to the Southern Plains Land Trust. Learn more on our charitable giving page.

  • What are your shop policies?

    See our shop policies.

  • How do I protect my order from loss, theft, or damage?

Working in partnership with Route, customers may select Route Package Protection to protect orders from loss, damage, and theft. Route offers low-cost shipping protection safeguarding your order. Route Protect can be added (or removed) during checkout.

  • Do you offer consulting or mentorship?

Dolan and Ali Marie award a $5000 business acceleration grant which includes 1:1 mentorship each year. Additional mentorship can be booked by emailing hello@dolangeiman.com. A 60-minute session with either Dolan or Ali Marie is $150.
