"When I took some time off from college for a year (due to various disbeliefs in the way the system worked), I used to hang out with a good friend of mine in the woods, back behind his grandmother’s house. We'd go way back in the woods, smoke cigarettes, talk about life, and explore the old abandoned farm trucks and the other piles of rusted skeletons that the local farmers would leave laying around. He was an artist as well, and so we'd talk about the different colors of moss on the rocks and how the light would shine through the trees. There was a creek in the woods that wound around the pines and the limestone rocks and often we would catch a glimpse of the kingfisher as he dove from a hidden perch to grab an unsuspecting minnow. Closing my eyes now it's hard to believe that moment existed, it seems like time slowed down and every little piece of nature was waiting to be explored. This piece represents those moments, when time slows down and we can really sit and watch nature while also being a part of it."
