Paintings and Screenprints

“I work differently than a lot of artists I know. I don’t usually start with a sketch; rather I rely on my artistic intuition and many years of creative exercising to construct art ‘on the spot’. For my paintings, I start with a panel of wood (often recycled from shipping crates) and will draw outlines for animals or birds and scrawl poems across the surface of the panel. That’s first, and then I apply layers of paint and more text and paint and so on. Most pieces like that have central characters.”
