There’s no better way to kick off our October tour of Texas than with Marburger Farm Antique Show, going on in Round Top, TX, October 1 – 5. It has truly been incredible to see the organizers of this event transform a small, sleepy Texas town into a vibrant, sprawling festival of antiques, original art, furniture and oddities from all over the world (vendor list). Being that much of Dolan’s recent artwork is inspired by vintage Americana imagery, we can’t think of a better locale for the premiere of our new large-scale paper collage, The Battle.
Certainly one of Dolan’s largest and most time-consuming creations yet, we’re very proud to showcase the increased intricacy with which Dolan is working with hand-cut, vintage paper elements in his latest series of collages. That also goes for Dolan’s industrial, salvaged metal wall sculptures – including such recent releases as the Bicycle Collection and Great Plains Collection: Deer. These pieces are similarly composed from hundreds of individual hand-cut elements, only in this case the material is antiqued, weathered metal collected from all over the country.
These are just a handful of creations we’ll be carrying along with us on our drive down south – which you can, of course, follow on Instagram – and you can take a peek at more selections from the full bounty below…
